Explain a partly open zipper through repeated teeth, convergence and overlap instead of hiding errors under detail.

A partly open zipper divides into two sides above its slider and joins below, making it useful for studying repeated elements becoming connected. Draw a fictional garment detail without manufacturing specifications. Establish tape and slider direction before selected teeth; simplification is welcome, but arbitrary decorative squares are not structure.

## Establish opening and tape paths

On an approximately 1300×1700 px canvas, place the slider centrally with a narrow V above and joined path below. Separate tape, teeth and slider. Trace both tooth paths through the slider before detail. Correct a broken convergence rather than enlarging the slider to hide it.

## Give tape width and a fabric attachment

Give each tape enough width for an inner tooth edge and outer garment attachment. Use subdued colour and broad fabric values before stitches. Soften rigid board-like edges or restore attachment when floating; widen tape that cannot hold its teeth instead of pushing them outside. Establish proportions before texture.

## Begin teeth in a few representative groups

Clarify three to five tooth groups near the slider and suggest the rest. Keep related widths, perspective compression and staggered correspondence. Establish one side before the other. Correct drift against the path instead of stretching final teeth to fill space. Fewer coherent groups explain more than dense unrelated squares.

## Separate the slider shell and openings

Build a small box-like slider whose broader entrance receives separated rows and narrower exit meets the joined chain. Align its planes with the path and add only local opening darks. Correct ambiguous ends through convergence or a bead-like shell through definite planes before decorative highlights.

## Attach the pull tab through overlap

Extend a thin tab from a clear top attachment, aligning inner hole and outer contour. Interrupt hidden edges where it overlaps the shell. A simple connection is sufficient. Repair a floating-key appearance through attachment, not shadow, and fill the hole according to the actual background or shell visible through it.

## Interlock the joined section visually

Below the slider, suggest two or three visibly interlocking groups forming a narrower chain. Do not simply join the V into an unexplained black line. Clarify interlock and reduce a rail-like central gap, or restore short tooth changes to a rope-like result. This open-to-joined transition comes before metallic texture.

## Differentiate metal and cloth edges

Use selected firmer value changes on metal and broader softer ones on cloth under upper-left light. Restrict brightest accents to a few near teeth and part of the tab. Keep optional stitches quieter. Compare edge organisation in grey when materials merge; no special metal-brush preset is required.

## Stop hidden lines at the slider and tape

Inspect entry and exit with details hidden, then restore them to catch teeth drawn through the slider face or stitches crossing teeth. Repair one location at a time. Review convergence normally and overall open/closed relation small. Enlarge useful groups and remove others if essential structure depends on microscopic marks.

## Check repetition in one enlarged group

Study three left and three right teeth in separated and interlocked arrangements at fixed size and colour. Compare central gaps and overlaps rather than aligning everything arbitrarily. This is visual correspondence, not an engineering assembly drawing. Apply only necessary detail to the main image, correcting the rule before extending it.

## Keep the structure and vary opening angle

Keep path, unhighlighted structure and finished versions with an editable tab. Next, widen the upper V slightly and rebuild tapes, tooth paths and visible slider planes while retaining the lower chain. Do not leave teeth at their old positions. Record the fragile connection and label the result as fictional illustration, not manufacturing or strength validation.
