Bookmark reference pages and add short notes, distinguish bookmarks from history and favourites, and check position limits when chapters change.

English translation of the [Chinese original](<https://allluckly.cn/guides/manyue-page-bookmarks/>), translated on 2026-10-23. The article body uses automated translation; app descriptions, historical reading notes and video subtitles receive separate editorial checks. Original publication dates, attribution, code and version notes are retained.

Progress answers “where did I stop?”; bookmarks answer “which pages deserve another look?” Continued reading keeps changing progress, making it inconvenient for revisiting compositions, dialogue or plot turns. ManYue page bookmarks retain specific positions with optional notes, forming a personal reference index.

## Choose a genuinely accessible chapter

Open an imported or accessible comic at the target chapter. Wait for full loading and record title, chapter and approximate page. A remote library needs a working connection; a bookmark does not retain a complete comic if the server deletes a chapter. Keep an authorised local copy for long-term offline review.

Choose a distinctive page, such as a scene change or complete spread. Verify it in single-page mode first so two visible images are not confused with one page number. Bookmarks belong to books and chapters, not universal screenshots; another source’s same-title work may be a different object.

## Save the current page with a useful note

Open Reading Bookmarks from the reader menu and choose Add Bookmark for Current Page or its equivalent. If the editor offers a page selector, verify it, add an optional short note and save. Confirm the new list item rather than closing immediately after typing.

Write why you want to return, such as “compare foreground and distance proportions” or “second time clue”, rather than repeating the title. Avoid excessive private information or long verbatim passages. A clear question remains useful weeks later and distinguishes multiple bookmarks better than generic praise.

## Return from the list and verify the destination

Leave the page, navigate elsewhere in the chapter and select the new bookmark from the list. Compare the actual image, page number and chapter. Saving and accurate jumping are separate checks. For one page of a spread, switch to single-page mode rather than relying on its left/right screen position.

Exit the reader, reopen the book and find the bookmark again. This verifies a durable access path rather than a temporary session panel. Test at least one bookmark in another chapter, so chapter-local numbers are not mistaken for continuous book pages.

## Editing and deletion affect the bookmark itself

The bookmark menu offers note editing and deletion. Keep identifying keywords when editing and confirm the saved text in the list. Read the deletion confirmation: removing a bookmark also handles its attached note. This is not a tool for deleting comic pages or editing originals.

Remove an unnecessary bookmark rather than the whole work. Before migration or major cleanup, preserve important notes through app-data backup; the list alone is not a long-term document archive. Verify actual sync/restore scope rather than assuming visible covers prove all notes reached another device.

## Example: three review points in your own storyboard

For your own storyboard, bookmark the opening, turning point and ending. Notes might ask “opening eye direction”, “missing transition at the turn?” and “space around final dialogue”. Jump through these three questions instead of searching from page one repeatedly.

Keep the old version before importing revised artwork. Added, removed or reordered pages mean old bookmark numbers no longer identify the same image. Recheck the review points rather than trusting numbers. Bookmarks manage positions, not image-content tracking across editions.

Short note prefixes such as “composition”, “plot” and “review” can make lists easier to browse. These are your conventions; test them in one book before expanding to others.

## Final checks and position limits

Check that the entry is saved, its note readable, its jump accurate and its presence persistent after reopening. Changed remote chapter identifiers, deleted chapters or shortened content can invalidate positions. Check chapter availability and choose the correct page again; this is not automatic repair of local comics.

### Do I need bookmarks if Continue Reading already exists?

Continue Reading resumes recent progress; bookmarks retain several long-term references. Read onward while keeping earlier bookmarks. Their roles differ, so repeatedly searching history is not a substitute for an index.

### Will bookmarks match another source’s same-title book automatically?

Do not assume so. Sources can use different chapter identifiers, pages and editions. Compare source and content before rebuilding bookmarks. Equal titles do not prove equal positions or successful file migration.
