Sync and troubleshooting
ManYue iCloud sync: move reading progress and shelves to another device
Confirm the source device’s data, set up automatic or manual iCloud sync, and compare one reading position and one shelf group across both devices.
On this page
To continue an evening iPad session on iPhone the next day, first sync reading state, then make the same comic accessible on the phone. ManYue iCloud sync covers history, favourites, settings and related data. One clear position and one test group demonstrate the two-device sequence.
Choose the more complete device as the starting point
On the old device, inspect recent titles, chapters, positions and important groups. Choose one test book and record a distinctive page or your own position note. If both devices already contain different data, export each before configuration, retaining separate recovery points.
Ensure both devices use the intended same iCloud account, system iCloud services work and the current ManYue sync entitlement is available. Keep networking stable during initial setup and finish one clear operation before switching devices. Distinguish a new empty phone from a complete old tablet when choosing initial direction.
Inspect sync status before taking action
Open iCloud Sync from data-sync controls and inspect availability, last sync time and errors. Availability means service conditions are met, not that this transfer succeeded. Automatic and manual operations are provided; understand manual setup first, then decide whether to enable automatic sync.
Upload from the more complete device, wait for success and record its sync time. Stop changing shelves or progress temporarily, then use the other device. One clear source avoids confusion from simultaneous uploads and reorganisation elsewhere.
Download on the second device and check changes
On the second device, open iCloud Sync, confirm account and service status and download. Check the test group and reading record. If the comic itself is not imported or downloaded, note that state sync succeeded, then restore file access through local import or the server.
Check title, source, chapter and actual page content. Identical titles may have different chapter structures. Prefer the same retained original file for local comics and verify server credentials for remote ones. Sync moves the state; file access makes the corresponding page open.
Verify everyday use with one small change
After basic setup, read the test comic several pages further on device one, exit the reader and wait for stable sync status. Check the corresponding record on device two. A small change to one book distinguishes new results from existing data; changing many groups complicates verification.
Even with automatic sync enabled, check last success and errors. Network loss, temporary iCloud outages or membership changes can interrupt transfers. Separate “enabled” from “recently successful”. Restore service conditions and perform a manual check rather than toggling repeatedly and expecting automatic merging.
Example: continue from tablet page twelve on a phone
Suppose your own short comic stops at page twelve on the tablet and is absent from the phone. Back up the tablet, upload its sync data, download on the phone and inspect shelves and history. Import the same retained original file, then compare the actual page twelve image, not just a percentage.
After verifying reading on the phone, advance slightly and sync the new state back to the tablet. If the reverse direction disagrees, stop editing both simultaneously, record last successful times and positions, and choose which state to retain. A round trip reveals problems more clearly than moving everything at once.
What to check when sync fails
Check iCloud account, service availability, network, last success time, exact errors and matching comic sources. If data arrived but content will not open, inspect files or server credentials. If the data itself did not arrive, investigate sync. Separating them saves unnecessary work.
For conflict or newer-version messages, preserve both devices’ backups and stop overwriting. Identify the complete dataset, then follow the interface’s options. Repeated upload/download operations alter actual state and are not harmless refreshes.
Does iCloud sync transfer every comic automatically?
Comic files are outside this automatic-sync scope. Reimport originals or complete supported downloads on the new device and verify offline reading separately. Visible favourites and history show only that those state records arrived.
Should I reinstall if iCloud stays unavailable?
Check the system account and iCloud service before app status and errors. Retain app data and local comics rather than reinstalling before the cause is clear. Once service recovers, repeat the same small test.
What to read next
- Separate device migration into state and files.
- Export a local backup before syncing.
- Use your own managed WebDAV sync folder.
