ManYue wide-image splitting: verify half-page order in vertical reading
Where supported, compare split wide images, reverse ordering and intact landscape views, checking dialogue order, the centre join and saved position.
On this page
A full spread can be too small on a portrait phone. If available, wide-image splitting can present its halves vertically, but their order must match the story. Compare against the intact image and verify reversal deliberately. This is a display operation rather than a claim that source files were permanently divided.
Confirm the source is one complete spread
Inspect a single complete landscape image and identify dialogue and centre-crossing artwork. Two separate portrait pages require pairing instead. Establish which half comes first from the source’s panels and dialogue. Calibrate with a clear dialogue spread before considering an unordered landscape illustration.
Check mode and feature conditions
Inspect splitting in a supported continuous mode and respect its visible entitlement conditions. If unavailable, intact-image rotation or zoom remains usable without a purchase. Record mode, entry identity and starting state. Do not confuse gallery pairing with vertical splitting or alter the source to make a control appear.
Observe the initial split order
Enter the spread from the preceding page and identify the first half, second half and following page. Record actual left/right order and compare the known dialogue sequence. Enlarged readable letters are insufficient if narrative order is wrong. Move slowly enough to inspect the centre and distinguish missing content from loading.
Reverse only when the evidence calls for it
If the initial order contradicts the source, change only the visible reverse-order option and recheck. Keep story direction and other controls stable. Complex panels crossing the centre may remain unsuitable for splitting in either order. Retain the intact image when it works better, and record absent controls as a limitation.
Inspect content across the centre
Compare centre-crossing lettering, figures and lines with the intact image. Even preserved pixels can become awkward when a speech balloon spans halves. Restore the full view before diagnosing file damage or deciding against splitting. External crop-and-repackage work is separate and should not be confused with this display test.
Check ordinary pages and reopening
Continue into a portrait page and inspect the transition. Exit from a split half and reopen the same entry, comparing actual content. Screen units may differ from source-image counts, so record chapter and half-scene. For offsets, inspect mode and identity before altering reading records.
Verify with a second wide image
Test another wide image because whitespace-heavy scans and genuine spreads can share proportions without the same needs. Use a supported book scope and compare another comic if isolation matters. Mixed image types may be better served by intact views and occasional zoom than an elaborate set of exceptions.
Acceptance and a fallback
Finish with legible halves, correct dialogue order, understandable centre content, natural transitions and a verified resume scene. Fall back to the intact image when splitting is unsuitable. Reversal changes half presentation, not the archive’s page order, and this workflow requires no permanent source editing.
