Media identity and viewing handover
Map two episodes inside one iCouldPlay file
Record internal episode boundaries and library identity for one permitted two-episode file.
On this page
One file containing two episodes may have one library card and one resume position. It is not equivalent to two separate files, and a two-episode name does not prove splitting occurred. Use permitted combined material to map file identity, content boundaries and personal progress. This assumes neither automatic cutting nor multiple virtual episode records in iCouldPlay, and no universal server naming convention.
Establish whether there is one file or two entries
Confirm actual file count, names and duration in the source, not from similar posters. Two scanned entries can refer to one long file when folder scopes overlap. Record source and scope and preserve the original rather than making duplicate renamed files for tidiness. Prefer a self-made combined sample or permitted material with known episode structure. Mark unknown boundaries until inspected rather than deriving them from guessed episode lengths.
Identify a content anchor for each part
Inspect in sequence and note recognizable picture or sound near the first beginning, second beginning and end. The second part may retain an opening or start directly, so black frames and music are not universal delimiters. Write a short personal description and approximate player time, distinguishing episodes from advertisements, trailers and recaps. Use a few anchors rather than a transcript. Keep uncertain transitions unresolved and check provenance before assigning formal episode identity.
Keep file and episode identities separate
Record filename, total duration and source separately from verified season, episode or custom-section identities. Do not infer episode numbers from length. Player time remains file-relative, so five minutes into part two is not minute five of the whole file. Label any part-relative timing with its own baseline. This separation keeps the second part and remaining viewing clear even if the card identifies only the first episode.
Inspect the card’s actual match
Compare the card’s displayed title, episode and source with the content table. A first-part match should be recorded as such rather than changed to the later episode because the file is long. If metadata editing exists, establish its scope before using it; otherwise keep external notes. Poster or title edits neither alter physical segmentation nor establish a second resume record. Separating display metadata from content prevents two apparently independent records still pointing to one file.
Test retrieving the second part
Seek before the second-part anchor, play to confirm it, leave and retrieve it again from your note. Allow context for approximate seeking without assuming a chapter button. Recheck content if a time came from another combined edition instead of endlessly adjusting a mismatched number. Record a usable starting position and rationale. This verifies a manual map, not automatic recognition of the combined structure, and requires no alteration of the original file.
Track viewing completion by content part
Mark part one viewed and part two unviewed in personal notes instead of treating one watched label as both completions. A handover should include file-relative time and anchor to avoid restart or false completion. Respect a server’s file-level progress rather than promising per-episode synchronization. Test the same small file before adopting a cross-device habit. Ordinary existing notes suffice; no additional in-app segment checkboxes are assumed.
Preserve relationships before any optional split
If separate files are needed, preserve the combined original, boundary notes and caption relationship before using a familiar permitted external tool on copies. Cutting may change time origins, encoding or captions; renamed duplicates are not a split. Check each resulting beginning, ending, sound and captions, not merely file count. Avoid unauthorized material and the only original. These are preparation checks; follow the chosen tool’s own reliable editing guidance.
Keep a clear entry-relationship note
Keep answers to file count, contained sections, second-part retrieval, completed viewing and card limitations. Recheck boundaries after changing source or export rather than assuming same-name combined files share order. Before removing duplicate entries, verify their content relationship and retain a recoverable source. Separating file, section and progress identities reduces deletion mistakes, duplicate transfers and wrong-episode selection; the goal is retrieving real content, not manufacturing attractive card counts.

Checked on November 4, 2026 against the official iCouldPlay App Store listing and Apple public lookup: version 1.1.1, requiring iOS / iPadOS 15.0 or later. This exercise uses the public scope of file import, network sources, playback, captions and progress. Check controls in your installed version. Self-made samples, manual records and external file preparation are workflows, not newly promised automatic features. No physical-device or private-server test is claimed.
