iCouldPlay recorded pointers: separate targeting, click feedback and resulting state

Inspect two neighbouring controls in a self-made recording, distinguishing pointer location, visible feedback and the resulting state.

A pointer over a button is not a click, and a flashed ring is not proof of success. Reread a harmless self-made recording in iCouldPlay, logging target, feedback and result separately. No pointer recognition or click replay is assumed, and tapping recorded controls does not operate the recorded software.

Prepare two distinguishable targets

In a familiar harmless document/drawing tool, use adjacent blue/red swatches. Record hovering blue, moving to red, selecting red and drawing a line, preserving original and tool notes. An authorised tutorial works if labels/result are legible. Do not use transfers, deletion or real submissions or trigger irreversible actions for the sample.

Identify targets and the result region

Record both labels, relative positions and where the result appears, such as red right of blue and the line on blank canvas. Position alone is insufficient after layout changes. Watch once for edits or panel movement and define references per segment. Viewer scaling changes observation conditions, not the recorded tool’s target coordinates.

Observe pointer movement first

Play continuously from before the pointer enters the target region, then log approximate order/times for hovering blue, leaving and reaching red. Ordinary pause is not an event log. Hovering or passing does not mean selection. If the pointer is hidden or replaced by a magnifier, mark it unseen rather than infer “here”. A ring covering both controls leaves the target ambiguous; its centre is not an event log or definitive hit evidence.

Record visible feedback independently

Replay from the same earlier position for highlight, border, flashed ring or closing menu, listing each separately. A ring may be editorial and need not be exactly synchronized with a real click; a highlight may be hover-only. Recording notes add evidence without erasing visual ambiguity. Preserve timings/scopes instead of compressing every cue into “clicked red”, then compare with the outcome.

Verify the actual result

Check that a newly drawn line is red rather than a pre-existing red line. Use stroke onset and sequence; a final still alone cannot establish the selection. A blue result is a mismatch to investigate for target, tool state or edits. Playback cannot expose the recorded software’s internal events, so retain an unknown cause while accurately describing the visible colour.

Separate narration from visible evidence

If narration says select red while the pointer appears over blue, keep intent, pointer, feedback and result columns. Narration may lead, lag or come from another take; it cannot replace state evidence. Save a clearer re-recording as a new version rather than backfill the old one. Diagnose presentation gaps without judging motives or labelling an entire course false.

Use enlargement for labels and boundaries only

Use available sizing while retaining both targets and result. A cropped close-up does not establish whole-layout identity. Enlargement cannot recover obscured labels or event logs; retain resolution limits. Temporarily disable selectable captions covering targets and restore them. Burned-in annotations remain separate; deleting captions cannot remove a recorded ring.

Exclude missed intervals through continuous replay

Play continuously from before target changes through the finished result to exclude a seek skipping the click/stroke. Correct an earlier unseen note if replay reveals it. If only a result jump remains, keep before/after states and questions without inventing hidden actions. Preserve initial records and correction reasons, changing one viewing condition at a time and starting earlier without assumed frame stepping.

Finish target, feedback and result records

Revisit controls, feedback and new result from time anchors, distinguishing visual evidence, narration and recording notes. Reopen the same version once and restore position. Recorded buttons are not live controls, and iCouldPlay does not thereby extract scripts, recognise clicks or verify saving. This checks harmless recorded content without executing the recorded app or automatically validating arbitrary recordings.

Checked on November 8, 2026 against the official iCouldPlay App Store listing and Apple public lookup: version 1.1.1, requiring iOS / iPadOS 15.0 or later. The public 1.1.1 release notes list Kodi, OpenList / AList and S3-compatible storage, with improvements to source switching and captions after seeking. The tasks use this public scope and existing playback capabilities. Check controls in your installed version. Self-made samples, manual records and external file preparation are workflows, not newly promised automatic features. No physical-device or private-server test is claimed.
