Practical record layouts

VectorPaint paired flashcards: match prompts, answers and identifiers

Make six fictional study cards with separate prompt and answer layouts, checking identifiers, orientation and printed pairing.

Similar-looking fronts and backs do not guarantee correct answer pairing. Design six fictional shape-vocabulary cards with identifiers, separate layouts and an output list. These are static cards without automatic quizzes or review tracking; verify their content independently.

Create the prompt-answer identifier list

List six unique IDs with prompts, answers and notes outside the app. Use clear identifiers rather than colour pairing and verify the example content. Reserve title, image and ID areas on a 600 by 900 pixel canvas. Confirm printing and flipping requirements separately. Validate one complete pair before expanding to six.

Keep prompts free of accidental answers

Place only the question and necessary visual clues on the front, avoiding text that reveals the answer. Distinguish optional hints from the main prompt. Keep the ID inset in one fixed corner. Check question meaning without the image, then inspect whether decoration creates competing clues; a plain background can be clearer.

Use matching IDs and a stable answer layout

Build an independent back with a prominent answer, short explanation and matching ID. Colour may distinguish sides but does not establish pairing. Explain the key reasoning rather than repeating the question. Wrap long answers naturally. Continue from editable sources, not imported front-image previews, and verify all three pairing fields before duplication.

Replace duplicated content in a fixed order

Update front ID, prompt and image, then matching back ID, answer and explanation. Audit each pair immediately. Similar graphics make stale copied answers easy to miss. Use matching IDs and explicit front/back filenames in separate folders so pairs can be sorted without guessing different naming schemes.

Test both short and long answers

Compare a one-word answer and a longer explanation for consistent alignment and margins. Do not pad short cards or shrink long ones disproportionately. Put detailed discussion on a companion sheet when needed. Test numbers, punctuation and the longest prompt too, then record workable line limits for later additions.

Shuffle to test pairing reliability

Shuffle fronts and match backs by ID, deliberately misplacing one to test the checklist. For double-sided printing, first test flip direction and back ordering with a small paper sample. Canvas centring alone cannot prove printed alignment. Keep diagnostic marks and shuffled test arrangements out of the final set.

Save paired sources and output folders

Retain editable fronts and backs and list both output files for every ID. Reevaluate the answer whenever a question changes. Version the whole set to prevent old answers returning. Images are not editable sources or review logs. Verify content and asset permissions before classroom or public use and share the checked set.

Trace wrong answers by identifier

Compare source, front and back for the same ID and rule out stale delivery. If content still mismatches, audit duplication against the list. Diagnose back orientation through print flip/order settings instead of rotating every answer. After fixing clipping or content, shuffle and pair again to catch duplicate or missing IDs.
